didacta 2024: United Robotics Group presents robotics solutions for the education sector

Wide range of innovative teaching and rehabilitation approaches:

  • Robotics in the classroom is an important part in preparing for the future.
  • United Robotics Group showcases diverse solutions for schools such as scratch like programming, specialized education applications, NAO Real-time coding on Jupyter Notebooks, Pepper and ChatGPT to improve interaction but also rehabilitation with cognitive and motor exercises with NAO.
  • Humanoid robots and versatile platforms NAO and Pepper at two different stands.

Bochum – 13. February 2024From 20 to 24 February 2024, United Robotics Group (URG) presents a comprehensive robotics portfolio for the education sector at "didacta - die Bildungsmesse" in Cologne. The European market leader in service robotics demonstrates the application potential of its solutions, particularly in the areas of 'programming', 'language acquisition', 'specialized teaching' and 'rehabilitation'. The company has been active in the education sector for many years. With over 700 exhibitors from more than 60 countries, didacta is Europe's largest trade fair for teachers from all areas of education and the industry's most important professional development event.

Robotics is playing an increasingly important role in education. This is where the skilled workers of tomorrow are trained. Germany should utilise every opportunity to keep up with international standards in the integration of robotics, especially in the education sector.

Dr. Nadja Schmiedl, CTO of the United Robotics Group, comments: "In view of today's societal challenges, it is important to accelerate progress and unleash the potential of every individual. It is about nothing less than systematically preparing for the demands of tomorrow. Intelligent learning programmes such as robots can be used to boost motivation and creativity, especially in science subjects. In this way, we want to make the next generation fit for the future, regardless of their background or resources. Our vision is to make education a universal right, not a privilege.

Versatile platforms for educational institutions

  • United Robotics Group will be present at stand F-09 in Hall 06.1 showcasing a range of solutions for use in education and rehabilitation. The humanoid robots NAO and Pepper will demonstrate their capabilities. Both have been successfully used as versatile platforms in education for many years. They are used as assistants for teachers, but also for students with disabilities such as autism or behavioural problems. Specifically, URG, together with various partners, will present the following solutions:
  • Together with the Dutch company Interactive Robotics, URG presents RobotsindeKlas, a solution that allows teachers to easily develop their students' analytical, social and emotional skills. The platform allows students to practice a range of skills, from maths and language to presentation and programming.
  • Jupyter AI Package NAO: The integration of NAO robots into Jupyter Notebooks provides teachers with a valuable opportunity to enhance coding, data science and machine learning lessons and create interactive, hands-on learning experiences for students. The solution supports efficient lesson planning, classroom collaboration and engagement with real-world robotics applications, making the learning experience engaging and adaptable to different curriculum requirements.
  • ‘My friend NAO’ application highlights the benefits of NAO when used as a specialized educational tool, particularly useful for children with autism or other neurodevelopmental disorders. Key features include customizable sessions tailored to the child's profile, educational and playful applications, various activities such as dance, movement, games and stories, and motor skills development.
  • In collaboration with InRobics, NAO is revolutionizing physiotherapy in rehabilitation centers and hospitals. The humanoid robot increases patient motivation, attention and adherence to therapy through individual and group therapy sessions, daily routines and playful content such as challenges and active rest periods. In addition, the program includes data analysis and reporting tools that enable medical staff to optimize therapy plans based on individual responses.
  • Pepper powered by GPT4: The integration of Pepper into ChatGPT4 opens up a new dimension of interactivity and expressiveness. This synergy between advanced speech processing and physical expression makes interaction not only informative but also entertaining. In educational institutions, the combination of ChatGPT4 and a robot offers an innovative approach to interactive learning. Learners can receive personalized support, ask questions and participate in dynamic conversations that mimic real-life interactions.

Plato the first serving Cobiot, NAO with Interactive Robotics solution and Pepper powered by ChatGPT4 will also be exhibited at the joint Mobile.Schule Campus stand as part of Digitale Bildungswochen in Hall 7 at stands C060, C061, B060, B068 and C059.

The wide range of applications for URG solutions in the education sector demonstrates the central role of robot technology in supporting learners in many areas. Visitors to didacta will be able to get a comprehensive picture of this.
